Two kinds of object, two ways to keep them. Each one has a single thing that will ruin it if you get it wrong, and it is written first.

The Octopus, Reef, Diver, Orbit and Earthrise Lamps are all cast resin on a wood base with an LED underneath.

• Keep them out of direct sunlight when they are offThis is the one that matters. Hand-poured resin fades over months in a sunny window. It is the exact opposite of the cube, which wants the sunniest spot in the room.
• Soft dry brush or cloth for dustNo water, no sprays, and nothing on the painted detail inside the resin.
• Indoor only, and never a bathroomNone of them are sealed. The base is electrical.
• Resin cracks on a hard dropGive it a stable surface and run the cable where nobody will catch a foot on it.
• They run coolAn LED you can leave on all night. There is nothing to overheat and nothing to replace.

• Dry microfiber cloth onlyNo water, no cleaning sprays. Sprays leave a film that kills the refraction, and the refraction is the entire object.
• Fingerprints are the enemy of rainbowsPick it up by the edges when you can.
• It will chip on tile, and it will chip itselfSolid glass, heavy for its size. Keep it away from the edge of a shelf.
• Direct sun is safeGlass does not fade. The sunniest spot in the room is also the best one.

Resin with a sandstone finish. Dry cloth, no water. The matte surface picks up oil from hands, so handle it by the base.

The cube wants a window that gets direct sun at some point in the day — south or west-facing in the United States. The lamps want a corner that is already a little dark, within reach of an outlet. Putting them in the same place wastes both of them, which is the reason the catalogue is split by room rather than by price.
